Greater safety through explosion protection
It is important to ensure sufficient safety. This is especially true in the industrial sector, where it is not uncommon to work with flammable substances or gases. Fire protection plays a major role here, including not only smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems but also safety in terms of explosion protection. An explosion hazard is always present when an explosive mixture of air and flammable substances is formed which can be ignited. To counteract this danger, our Safety Hatch overpressure flap compensates for a sudden increase in pressure.
The roda Safety Hatch pressure relief flap is used to compensate for a sudden pressure increase caused by rapidly expanding gases, such as those produced by deflagration. The release mechanism is activated by a bolt plate whose predetermined breaking point breaks at a defined static pressure and allows the hoods to open. A laterally mounted spring with a steel cable prevents the pressure wave from causing the hoods to hit the roof uncontrolledly.
The base for the Safety Hatch is the PHÖNIX NSHEV, which has been modified accordingly for this application.
Applications
Flat roof
Shed roof

Designs
The roda Safety Hatch pressure relief flap is available both as a double flap and as a single flap. As the Safety Hatch resembles the PHEONIX NSHEV, the systems can be used in combination without the visual appearance of a variety of systems in use. The use of bolt plates as a release mechanism allows for cost-effective reuse of the systems after a release. The bolt are plates manufactured according to the size of the specified value for the release torque. An additional retention mechanism prevents damage to the roof and hoods in the event of a release.
The standard 20 mm insulation of the aluminium hoods with rock wool and a 30 mm insulation of the base including the rain gutter ensures a good thermal insulation value for our pressure relief flap. If required, thicker insulation is also possible. In addition, the Safety Hatch can implement sound insulation values of up to 28 dB and complies with the requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
Sizes
Since our roda products are manufactured to customer order and adapted exactly to your wishes, the roda pressure relief flap is also available in all device sizes.
